Day 3 over all

So today was the third day of my self improvement. I am still on track with the food and I did get some exercise in. I had less cravings for sugar today which was nice. I also managed to make a very tasty marinade for chicken, it was olive oil, lemon zest, garlic, salt and pepper. It was very very tasty. I put the chicken with some salad dressed with apple vinegar and olive oil, I also put apple slices with it and it was great.

I am hoping that by the end of tomorrow the cravings will be almost gone for sugar. I am loving this so far I feel more energetic and my body already is feeling healthier.

As for the exercise I did not do the you are your own gym today, my body was way to sore for that. I did however go to the pool and work out in the pool for about an hour. It felt amazing to exercise in the pool. It was a beautiful day out. I am starting to get into the grove of things and I am really enjoying it.

Thank you all for your support It has been wonderful, as I have said I will keep everyone up to date with my progress.

Day 2 Cleanse

So this is my second day of the cleanse and so far its going well. I have been eating a ton of fruits and veggies, I also have been having eggs for breakfast. I must say that I have felt a bit like going insane. I miss having bread, ice cream, white rice and other carbs. Its been interesting seeing what cravings I have and what cravings I don't have. I am committed to this so I am staying on track. I'll see if the Cravings are better tomorrow.

Day 2 Exersise

So for my second day of the challenge I continued on with the you are your own gym. It was pretty intense and afterwards I felt pretty good. I was a bit sore, but I haven't done exercise like these in a while so I'm guessing its to be expected. I feel like I am on track to get through this challenge but it is still early.

Thank you everyone for your support It is really helping.

New 30 day challenge

DSC_5067.JPG

Today marks the start of another 30 day challenge as well as a 14 day challenge. I have accepted that over the past few years I have gained a tremendous amount of weight and now that I am happily employed and settled into a new Florida lifestyle it is time that I start to work on myself and get rid of some of this weight. So for the next 14 days I am going to be doing a no carb, no dairy, no sugar cleanse. This is not a diet it is simply to get my body off of those things for a little while. While I am doing this fruit is a fine item since it is natural sugars. I will be posting my updates to this daily.

The other task on my way to a more healthy me that I will be starting is a thirty day challenge for exercise. I am using the you are your own gym Ipad app for this. I will be posting my progress daily. Any words of encouragement along the way would be very helpful since I am not know for being able to give up sweets very well.

Thank you everyone for your support.

Day 1 exercise

Yesterday was the first day that I have done the YAYOG ( you are your own gym)  system. It was more brutal than I though even set to beginner. I have to say though it felt good to exercise again its been to long. I am really excited for getting through this challenge successfully. In addition to YAYOG I am wearing a Fitbit and trying to get over 10000 steps a day. yesterday was a success in that front as well. For those of you who have ever worked at World of Disney you know that 10,000 steps in an average shift is not that hard. Today may be a bit more difficult since I am off but I will still go for it and do my best.

1 day down 29 to go.

Day 1 Cleanse

So yesterday was a success I had a banana and apple along with water for breakfast. Then I had a banana and cucumber for lunch and a bag of peas for Dinner. Its not the most exciting meal I've ever put together but its a start. It wasn't that hard today to go without carbs or sugar.

I plan on having an omelet of sorts this morning with some green peppers and onions hold then cheese sadly.

One day down 13 days to go.

Time to Start a 30 Day Challenge

This section is dedicated to 30 day challenges that I am going to undertake.  I will make my best attempt to post everyday so that anyone who wants to can keep track of how I am doing.  I will post details about how the challenge went on a given day, what I listened to if anything and if I took a picture i will post it as well.  I hope to complete a challenge a month for the rest of the year, wish me luck!

Day 15 - 30 Day Challenge Jog

Today marked an important time: I am now half way though my challenge.  I am going to take a moment and reflect on the past 15 days.   The past 15 days have shown me that getting out and walking 20 minutes a day is not a hard thing to do at all, it has also taught me that trying to jog from being sediment can be a painful thing.  I had to take it easy today and therefore only went a little bit over a mile in my 20 minutes.  I feel as If I have more energy lately and I do feel physically better.  I know that just walking or jogging 20 minutes a day wont break any weight loss records but I feel as if I have lost a few pounds.

I am optimist about the next 15 days.  The other thing that these past 15 days have taught me is that trying to post the same thing over and over again each day gets boring,  If you look back at the past few days my posts are pretty lame.  From here on out I am making a change to the way that i post, I will only be putting up a little blurb each day, some times as small as "I went 20 minutes today" unless I listen to something really cool, or see something interesting that I feel is important.  I will also not be posting my maps unless I receive a request to see it, this is due to the fact that when I check my site out on a mobile platform it slows down my load time, and the maps don't always appear.

Thank you for the support in my challenge.

Day 9 - 30 Day Challenge Jog

Today me and my lovely wife walked/jogged up at my grandparents house in Tolland, we went 1.75 miles in 21 minutes.  This was a bit buggy and muggy of a walk but it was still fun.  I am getting a bit tired so I will post the map for this and yesterdays run when I have a chance.  Over all I am feeling better and I think I have lost a few pounds but my legs are in pain I will be taking it a bit slower the next few days to try and alleviate some of the pain.

More to come tomorrow.

Day 7 - 30 Day Challenge Jog

Well I am one full week into my challenge and other than a little bit of musucle pain I am feeling great.  Today I managed to go 1.91 miles in 25 minutes , I know for some of you thats pretty slow but for me thats an acomplishment.  I am starting to feel my body falling into the rutine now, even though I was tired when I came home from work my body needed to get out and jog.  I pushed my self today to I found myself saying internally (and at one point out loud) "you can get to that lamp post, or stop sign without slowing down."

It is really nice to see my track from day to day on MapMyRun, I am starting to see improvements in my tracks.  Its also been really nice to get back out into nature and run next to trees and plants.  Tomorrow I'll be doing my track on the rails and trails paths in Vernon again which should be beautiful, baring the rain doesn't come again.

I continued my trend of listening to another great TWIT cast this time it was Triangulation episode 54.  I will try to get back to listening to some of the books I have from audible, but you'll just have to continue reading to find out which ones.  Thats all for today, I am going to see tomorrow how the mobile posting works I hope it works as well as Squarespace says.

Day 6 - 30 Day Challenge Jog

I really didn't want to go jogging today, but I knew I couldn't blow my challenge so early into it, so I got some added motivation today; my wife.  My wonderful wife Carolyn came jogging with me today.  We took it a bit slower than usual becuase the pollen was really getting to me today

I managed to go 1.65 miles in 20 minutes, I am still getting use to the new user interface on mapmyrun so the rout didn't start till I was 7 minutes in so I actually went 27 minutes, but to be honest with my self I tracked 20 minutes.

I didn't listen to anything today beacuse I was having a conversating with my wonderful wife.  So thats all for now.

Day 5 - 30 Day Challenge Jog

Today was another rainy pretty Miserable day weather wise, but that wont stop me in my quest to jog.  After work I drove back to the apartment, it was raining the whole time.  I went in and changed and decided to take a look out side again expecting rain, much to my surprise there was no rain so I decided to fire up MapMyRun and go for a jog out side.

There was an update to map my run today and it added a function that allows the program to stop the time while your are stopped such as at a stop sign, or just waiting for traffic so I decided to turn it on and give it a try.  This was not a good idea.  I ended up checking the app about 5 minutes into my jog, well it wasn't working, so I shut off the function and miraculous it started to working again.  I jogged for 1.79 miles in 26 minutes.  This run included some steep hills which is not what im use to in my jogs.

I listened to another great pod cast on the TWIT network today it was The Social Hour episode 61

I am well on my way to completing my quest, I am actually starting to enjoy my jogs and I am feeling better getting out each day. As usual if you have any comments just post them in the comment section below.  If you have any Ideas for future 30 day challenges you can post them there as well. Thank you for reading.

Day 4 - 30 Day Challenge Jog

So today it was raining, so I couldn't jog outside, but in my quest to jog 20 minutes each day I found a way to get my jogging in; I went down and for the first time since me and my wife moved into our appartment I used the free gym here.  I arrived there after work and used the tredmill. becuase I was in one place mapmyrun was useless, it managed to keep track of my time and that was it speed or distance data, but thats what the tredmill is good for.  I ran 1.68 miles in 21 minutes, because I couldn't track it there is no map this time.

There were some benifits to the tredmill I was able to keep a more constant speed since I can't just slow a tredmill when I want to, and it forced me to be more honest with how much time I actually spend running.

As usual I listned to part of another great netcast from the TWIT Network, today it was the Tech Guy 876.

If you have any comments just leave them below, I am running behind on putting up days 2 and 3 of the challenge but I will get them up back dated soon.  Thats all for today.

Day 3 - 30 Day Challenge Jog

So Day 3 or May 20th I ran 1.57 Miles around my apartment trails Listening to Security Now on the TWIT network.  (again pre dated so it flows with the rest of the posts)
